Malta Taxi Information

Always remember to inquire and agree on a fare before you enter a taxi as these are not always determined by taxi-meters. In fact, the official White taxi services from the Malta International Airport and Valletta Waterfront Cruise terminal to all localities in Malta are based on fixed tariffs that are well labelled in the respective terminals. Prices vary from around €10 to €35 depending on your destination.

White taxis also have the possibility of picking passengers from anywhere but it is not normal to flag them down in the road as these are not normally roaming the streets in search of clients. The norm is to find them waiting at popular tourist spots around Malta.

If you need to book a taxi from at a specific time and location, your best option is to call one of the other reliable private garages that offer chauffer driven services in black taxis (similar to the UK minicab). Your hotel should be more than happy to assist you with this.

Our recommended taxi and chauffeur service are Prestige Cabs Malta. They also offer private tours of the Maltese islands.

It is also possible to cross between Valletta and Sliema (via the Marsamxetto Harbour) and between Valletta and the Three Cities (via the Grand Harbour) by using the Valletta Ferry Services. They provide a scheduled ferry service from The Strand, Sliema to Valletta and also from opposite the Barrakka Lift in Valletta to The 3 Cities. This service runs daily for most of the day. It is the ideal way to travel to avoid parking problems and the best way to save on traveling expenses. It takes 5 minutes to get from Sliema to Valletta and 7 minutes to get from Valletta to The 3 Cities (Bormla and Isla). The Valletta Ferry Services (www.vallettaferryservices.com) are the official ferry service of these routes. Fares start from €1.50 for an Adult single way ticket.

There currently is no internal air travel link on the Maltese islands connecting Malta to Gozo, but this is a possibility to be reintroduced in the near future.
